Mallorca’s green treasures – A guide to sustainable shopping

Lura – An organic farm shop in Palma

LURA is a project for conscious consumption/eating, that was born out of love and care for the land. Their selection of products is based on agroecology, permaculture and regenerative agriculture. For the founders Alicia and Victoria, health is as important as sustainability and they try to make our society a more conscious place. An organic health food store that sells fruit and vegetables from its own farm, as well as other products such as tofu, seitan, cheeses, bread, chocolate, spreads, sauces and drinks, etc.

 

Palma´s organic market

At Plaça Bisbe Berenguer de Palou (Plaza de los Patines) in Palma, 16 farmers currently sell their products every Tuesday and Saturday between 8am and 2pm. Here you can buy fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, oil , flour, bread and pastries and other things. This market is a place for the direct sale of certified organic food, fresh or processed, produced by local farmers and farmers who mainly choose organic production and who above all follow the guidelines of agroecology, from a social, economic and environmental perspective. Here, organic, local and seasonal products take center stage.

 

NU Market & Coffe – An ecological oasis and zero waste

An inspiring place that gives you hope for humanity.  Their philosophy is to promote responsible and sustainable consumption that is free of plastic and 100% environmentally friendly. Here you can bring your own packages and fill them with different types of bulk products such as fruit and vegetables, rice, flour, cereals, pulses, pasta, spices, sweeteners, oil, wine, seeds, shampoo, detergent and much more. In the café you can enjoy different types of coffee, vegan bakery products, sourdough bread, soup of the day, etc.

 

Organic Maggie

Organic Maggie is a store with a wide range of organic food, fruit and vegetables, cleaning products, cosmetics, health food and baby products. Their products adapt to your needs (gluten-free, raw food, macrobiotic, vegan, vegetarian, paleo, crossfit), and many are local and locally sourced.

 

Veritas

Veritas is Spain’s leading chain of organic food stores (79 in total). Veritas was founded in 2002 with the goal of making the best possible food available to everyone – organic, certified, sustainable and socially just. They sell everything from fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and dry goods to skin care and household products. In Mallorca they have several stores in Palma and one in Andratx. In the online store you will find more than 4,000 organically certified products.
