You can drive there, but be ready for a thrilling drive on narrow roads with stunning views.  Alternatively, many visitors choose the popular hike from the town center, which takes about 90 minutes and provides a more relaxed way to enjoy the journey. Mallorca Sailing Academy is located deep inside of Palma. It is very close to Palma’s harbor. They have a massive variety of RYA (Royal Yachting Association) courses that are suitable for all levels. They even offer online theory courses. Their courses range from two to five days and the RYA certificates are valid worldwide.  The Mallorca Sailing Academy also offers charters for seven different sailing yachts. What sets Mallorca Sailing Academy apart from other schools is the fact that they organize long trips between the Balearic Islands and they even have a sailing trip to Las Palmas, the capital of the Canary Islands. Deep Blue Sea Utbildning

Deep Blue Sea Training is a sailing school located in Palma that also has many RYA courses. It is a fairly new school that does both courses and charters. They value the learning done on shore as much as on the water and have incredible facilities. They facilitate everything that you might need on and off the water. As for their charters, they have competitive prices and have a wide variety of yachts. They offer yachts with and without a crew depending on your specific needs. They currently have 6 vessels that are very high quality and safe. All yachts are coded to the highest MCA standards. They own their own training boats and this avoids any booking or quality problems.

National Sailing School of Port Calanova

The National Sailing School of Port Calanova is one of the oldest sailing schools in Mallorca. It is an enormous school with immense facilities. It specializes in dinghy sailing and has decades of experience in this field.  It boasts over a dozen support boats, a gym and 8 classrooms. It has a total of 170 sailing dinghies that are suitable for all levels of sailing. The school has a very strong competing team. The great thing about Port Calanova is that they offer courses to all ages and can help kids get into sailing at a very young age. They offer much more than just sailing such as: windsurf, kayaking and paddle boarding. They work all year round and have summer and easter camps for kids. They are one of the most highly esteemed sailing schools in the island Port Calanova is one of the best sailing locations in Spain with great weather and even greater views. The port hosts many events due to its unbeatable location. It has its own restaurant and pool. 

Palma Sea School

Palma Sea School is the longest established sea school in Palma. They have RYA courses for both sail and motor boats. They are suitable for all sailors, complete beginners or experienced professionals. They have a range of courses differing in length and level and they are located centrally on the main Paseo Maritimo. Their 5 different courses will safely take you from a complete beginner to an experienced sailor. All instructors are trained to a very high level and believe in making the courses as practical as possible. However, unlike other sailing schools, they do not offer charter services.

Marbalear

Marbalear is located in the South-West of Palma in the beautiful Port Adriano. They do not offer any certificates or have any sailing yachts but they have many small dinghies. Their dinghies are suitable for beginners and more advanced sailors and they vary in size and design. They have a small competition team and are very popular among kids. For those interested in racing they have great training that will prepare you for the world of sailing regattas. Marbalear not only gives dinghy-sailing classes but also rents out dinghies. They organise a summer camp every year and also offer windsurfing. Port Adriano is a wonderful port with many restaurants and other activities available such as boating, kayaking and diving.

La biblioteca de Babel

One of the 20 best bookstores in the world according to the Financial Times. La Biblioteca de Babel, named after a novel by Borges, is a place where you can enjoy literature and wine in a historic setting with more than 25,000 books and a cozy cafe with a terrace. The books are mainly in Spanish and Catalan, but there is also an international section. They also organize other activities such as concerts and book presentations.

Rata Corner

Rata Corner is the best independent bookstore in Palma, full of books, vinyl records and graphic works. They have a selection of the latest in literature, graphic novels, fanzines, history books, music, film, art and design. They also have exhibitions and organize cultural events. A few steps from the bookstore we find Little Rata, a place filled with books for children and young adults, toys, clever objects and cozy reading corners.

English Fine Books 

A bookstore specialized in antique books that has become a local landmark and was on the verge of disappearing when its owner retired. A young couple took over the bookstore and today it is back in all its splendor. The three labyrinthine floors are filled with more than 100,000 books of all sizes and from all eras. Most are written in English and the rest in Spanish, Catalan, French, German and the Scandinavian languages.

El Bazar del Libro

El Bazar del libro is a book nerd´s dream. It’s an amazing place where you can find real book gems at good prices. Opened in 1978, this bookstore was originally a wine cellar from 1780. Here they sell everything from a wide variety of used books to advertising from the 50s, school books from the 40s, old maps and other items from the past. All while you can enjoy a glass of wine or have a coffee.

La Salina

Charming bookstore in Santa Catalina, opened in 2021 by former editor and literary agent Marina Alonso de Caso. On the shelves you will find a well-selected collection of books, mostly in Spanish and Catalan, but also in other languages. They also organize book presentations and reading clubs (in different languages) regularly, and there is a very complete corner with books for young book lovers.

LURA is a project for conscious consumption/eating, that was born out of love and care for the land. Their selection of products is based on agroecology, permaculture and regenerative agriculture. An organic health food store that sells fruit and vegetables from its own farm, as well as other products such as tofu, seitan, cheeses, bread, chocolate, spreads, sauces and drinks, etc.

Palma´s organic market

At Plaça Bisbe Berenguer de Palou (Plaza de los Patines) in Palma, 16 farmers currently sell their products every Tuesday and Saturday between 8am and 2pm. Here you can buy fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, oil , flour, bread and pastries and other things. This market is a place for the direct sale of certified organic food, fresh or processed, produced by local farmers and farmers who mainly choose organic production and who above all follow the guidelines of agroecology, from a social, economic and environmental perspective. Here you can bring your own packages and fill them with different types of bulk products such as fruit and vegetables, rice, flour, cereals, pulses, pasta, spices, sweeteners, oil, wine, seeds, shampoo, detergent and much more. In the café you can enjoy different types of coffee, vegan bakery products, sourdough bread, soup of the day, etc.

Organic Maggie

Organic Maggie is a store with a wide range of organic food, fruit and vegetables, cleaning products, cosmetics, health food and baby products. Their products adapt to your needs (gluten-free, raw food, macrobiotic, vegan, vegetarian, paleo, crossfit), and many are local and locally sourced.

Veritas

Veritas is Spain’s leading chain of organic food stores (79 in total). Veritas was founded in 2002 with the goal of making the best possible food available to everyone – organic, certified, sustainable and socially just. They sell everything from fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and dry goods to skin care and household products. In Mallorca they have several stores in Palma and one in Andratx. In the fall 2024, the Raoul Wallenberg School will open its first international school in Palma, the Raoul Wallenberg International School. The school is located in a historic building from 1927 with a lot of charm and character. The building was previously owned by the Vatican and is now undergoing an extensive renovation where great emphasis is placed on preserving the building’s unique character and origins. The school grounds are surrounded by a high wall and extend over 10,000 square meters. There will be generous outdoor areas for play and activities such as basketball and soccer fields, beach volleyball, areas for cultivation and a lovely orange grove.

The school is located in the quiet and pleasant residential area La Vileta in Palma. There are good public transport connections and the school will provide efficient transport solutions to allow pupils to be dropped off and picked up safely and securely.

The Raoul Wallenberg International School will offer education in English and is aimed at children and teenagers aged 5-18 of all nationalities. The school will follow the Cambridge curriculum and meet the requirements of the local Spanish education authority. Spanish will be compulsory throughout the school as well as Catalan for local students. Local history and culture will be emphasized as well as that of the British curriculum.

Raoul Wallenberg was a young businessman and diplomat who, during the latter part of World War II, managed to save thousands of Hungarian Jews in Budapest from persecution by the Nazis. Some estimates suggest that he through his humanitarian courage and action saved as many as 100,000 thousand people. Raoul Wallenberg’s selfless actions earned him international acclaim. Despite his heroic actions, he mysteriously disappeared in Soviet custody after the war.
