A well-chosen artwork can completely transform the feeling of a home. It can create harmony, provide contrast, or enhance a particular atmosphere. It may not always be something we consciously think about, yet it’s something that affects us all.
That’s why we at Mallorcafastigheter are proud to present our collaboration with The Beehive Mallorca!
The Beehive was born out of a shared desire to highlight the creative energy found in Alaró. The founders, both practicing artists who also work with interior design projects, discovered in 2018 that three Danish artists happened to be living in the village: Monica Moe, abstract painter Anja Kleener, and Katrin Kirk, known for her intricate mesh sculptures. Katrin lived in a beautiful old townhouse that once served as a shoe factory, and it was there the idea emerged to bring together and celebrate the village’s creative community. The result was The Alaró Beehive, a pop-up art event that quickly grew into a vibrant and much-loved meeting place.
In the years that followed, The Beehive organized themed pop-ups featuring 20–35 artists, designers, and creators at a time, always accompanied by food stalls and music to create a complete experience. The events rapidly gained popularity, but when the pandemic struck in early 2020, they paused the physical gatherings to focus on their own art. At the same time, The Beehive gradually shifted toward promoting artists digitally. Monica eventually left the island, while Katrin and Anja continued the work, keeping the spirit of The Beehive alive online.
Today, The Beehive operates more as a living creative network than a formal membership-based organization. Their focus lies in using digital platforms to showcase artists and create opportunities for creatives to meet, collaborate, and exchange ideas. The Instagram account now has just under 4,000 followers, a mix of art lovers and creators, many of whom naturally become part of the expanding network.

Mallorca is a significant source of inspiration for Anja and Katrin. The combination of light, sea, mountains, and a slower pace of life creates a creative pulse that fuels both ideas and artistic expression. This sense of energy and inspiration is also reflected in their view of the home. Anja and Katrin believe that art can influence a space in ways that other things cannot: a piece that truly resonates continues to evoke emotion, wonder, and curiosity each time you see it. Art adds soul, identity, and personality to a home.
When asking Anja and Katrin what artistic trends are currently in Mallorca, they answered textile design, earthy tones, and ceramics is what have become especially popular in recent years, a reflection of both the natural surroundings and the many material-focused creators working here. Moreover, Mallorca stands out from many other places for its unique blend of international and local talent, as well as a strong sense of community and mutual support within the art scene.
For those who love art but feel unsure about choosing pieces for their home, their advice is simple: choose with your heart. A piece that speaks to you will always find its place. And for anyone seeking guidance, The Beehive is more than happy to help.
Every three months, the Mallorcaresidencia office will get a new piece of artwork from an artist in The Beehive, and right now the painting “Let it go” by Anja herself is hanging on our wall. Come by and check it out!
The Beehive are currently also collaborating with @simplysonbraho on the development of a unique Food, Home & Art Concept Shop, a space where stylish home décor, vintage furniture, and local artworks come together. The most recent changeover took place on November 6th, and the next will be in early February 2026.
