Scandinavian yacht charter organizer Navegara is expanding

Screen Shot 2015-01-26 at 12.11.27Navegara, the leading Scandinavian organizer of yacht charter in Mallorca. From the summer of 2015 we will also offer daily, weekly and long-term charter from Ibiza and Marbella.
Jonas Nilsson, charter manager at Navegara, is excited to offer existing and future customers the ability to charter boats from Ibiza.

– For us this was a natural step to take because we already had clients chartering boats from Ibiza in 2014. The timing is just right, as we see an increased interest in renting boats in the Balearic islands.

Princess-23mIbiza is a popular destination and the island is slightly smaller than Mallorca. It’s easy to understand why people want to discover the island’s diverse coastline by boat. Ibiza has caves, small picturesque bays, golden sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters. On the south side of Ibiza you have the famous wild nightlife, but on the north side it is the other way around, very relaxed and bohemian. Very much like the neighboring island of Formentera just south of Ibiza. Formentera is a very popular place to visit for boat charters and it is often referred to as “The last Mediterranean paradise”. You will understand why after a visit!

-Formentera is very special and we look forward sending guests to this lovely island on day charters. From Mallorca you need a week charter to be on the safe side when sailing. Just like in Mallorca, we can provide sailboats, motorboats and catamarans, with or without skipper/crew depending on the size and preference. Thanks to close cooperation with yacht owners and carefully selected charter companies, we will be able to ensure the service and quality we strive for. We have high standards for our suppliers, since it is important for us to deliver the best possible charter experience and create value to our customers, says Jonas Nilsson.

Navegara have a large and varied selection of yachts from Marbella and the famous Puerto Banus. Marbella is a major tourist resort on the Spanish Costa del Sol and has been the place to be for the rich and famous. And with an extensive facelift of Marbella town it is on its way back to former glory days. What will distinguish a yacht charter in Marbella from Mallorca?
– Around Marbella the distances are generally a little bit longer, but it will be exciting with new destinations! From Marbella you can easily sail to the mysterious and exotic city of Tangier in Morocko. I cannot wait to get there, Jonas Nilsson concludes.

Navegara arranges day trips, weekly tours and tailor-made tours in the Mediterranean, mainly around Marbella and the Balearic islands of Mallorca and Ibiza.

Interview on entrepreneurship in Mallorca

Fredrik Norrbin in MallorcaIn this post we ask some questions to Fredrik Norrbin about entrepreneurship in Mallorca and what he’s up to during the day.

Tell us a little about yourself and how you ended up in Mallorca.

I moved to Mallorca with my family at the end of 2011. By that time the idea was that we would be holidaying here for about a year, but then we ended up staying. It’s hard not to like Mallorca!

What made you chose to stay?

For me, the challenge was to move from safe Sweden to a country I had only visited a few times, where I did not speak the language, to get everything to work out as we wanted. Now after about 3 years, it feels like the pieces have fallen into place.

You run a few projects, including SEO Ibérica, tell us more!

SEO Ibérica is the foundation of the various projects I work with during the day. I help to design and develop websites which we then drive traffic to and focus on search engine optimization.

What was it that made you start with websites and search engine optimization?

I worked with selling Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services in Sweden in the early 2000s when Google took over the market. Online marketing has always been present in various ways so I know how important it is for business owners to have a good visibility in search engines. Everyone uses Google to find information in different ways.

When I came to Mallorca, I noticed how difficult it was to find relevant answers when I did searches, so that is how the idea came about. The design and developing of websites goes hand in hand with SEO and is something that customers request.

What are your best tips if you want your website to get a higher ranking in Google but you do not have a good knowledge in programming and SEO?

I would begin by improving the titles of the website’s home page and all the pages. Each title should be unique, and contain the keywords you are focusing on the respective page. Once it is in place, I would spend time to start your own blog and networking with other industry professionals, partners, journalists, bloggers and others

If you are interested, there is more to read on my blog (in English), and further in depth information of seo-consulting.nu.

What have been the biggest challenges of starting and running a business in Majorca?

Paperwork is not my thing so I decided to hire a company to help me with company registration and accounting etc. Otherwise I would never got started. Since it is still noticeable that there is a recession, business owners hold on to their money and decisions take a little longer. But it definitely feels like it is getting better and better!

Do you have any tips for those who read the interview and are eager to start a business in Mallorca?

Nothing in particular really besides having a passion for what you do, or else you will give up too early. And I would like to know more Spanish, that would probably had benefited me a lot!

Finally, do you have any personal goals for 2015?

Good question! I will continue to double annual sales in SEO Ibérica. Then I want to continue to focus on my other projects. Navegara will expand its operations from focusing only on Mallorca to also offer yacht charter from Ibiza and Marbella. And I will soon launch a new exciting project that can be found on http://mallorcaguide.se/.

With its unspoiled beauty that has been maintained with the right balance between infrastructures and preserving the island’s natural charm, Mallorca has kept his top position in popularity. There are many reasons for this.Mallorca is more international than ever with a vibrant capital and a lively multinational community that offers a fantastic lifestyle to the expatriate residents. The modern infrastructure of Mallorca has been important for its success like the modern international airport with competitive prices and only two hours flying time to all the major European capital cities, numerous top class hospitals and clinics with high standards and several international schools with excellent reputations. The fantastic climate with 300 days of sunshine every year with mild winters and enjoyable summers doesn’t disappoint either. Many leisure activities such as hiking, golfing, sailing, windsurfing and cycling can be enjoyed all year round. The safety factor also makes Mallorca an attractive choice because it is one of the safest regions in Spain to live. There is a low crime rate compared to other popular areas around the Mediterranean.Mallorca’s cosmopolitan atmosphere blended with its culture and unique character makes Mallorca an irresistible destination for buyers of their first or second home. The ongoing success of Mallorca’s real estate market is mainly thanks to the fact that the island attracts not only a strong national Spanish market but also an excellent spectrum of international buyers with the British and Germans emerging as the dominant European clients and Scandinavians, French, Swiss, Irish and Russians catching up lately.Mallorca’s reputation as a quality and luxury destination has impacted the real estate market, particularly in the last ten years, with high demand for sea front locations, historic properties and traditional “finca” style. Adrenalin kicks in Mallorca

Cliff jumping
It sounds more like a death wish than something you can enjoy. Even if bungee jumping without a rope sounds like a bad idea, this adrenalin pumping extreme sport has grown very popular in the Balearics. You should never try cliff jumping without the correct training and support from qualified professionals. Instructors will show how to jump safely from 3 – 12 meters into the water in risk assessed locations all across the island, from Magaluf to Alcudia.

Kite surfing
Kitesurfing or kiteboarding is a fast growing water sport where you use a kite to harness the power of the wind and glide your board on the water. By moving the kite up and down through the power zone you increase or decrease your speed and steer yourself on the water. Mallorca has the perfect conditions to learn the secrets of kitesurfing. With several hundred windy days per year, long white sandy beaches and intense turquoise waters, it can’t really get any better than that.

Canyoning
Mallorca has a worldwide reputation for its famous canyons including the number 1 canyon in Europe, Sa Fosca. The scenery is truly spectacular and is an amazing location to thrill seekers who descend the canyons safely, using a variety of different techniques such as abseiling, swimming, wading and rock scrambling. Canyoning is a relatively new sport that due to the limestone rocks is found in the Tramuntana mountain range. Mallorca boasts many canyons, included Sa Fosca that is considered the number 1 in the world. The canyons have been carved out by water from the lime stone during millions of years. These narrow gorges, with beautifully sculpted walls and waterfalls provide a striking setting for this all-action activity.

Sea kayaking
Many of Mallorca’s loveliest beaches can only be reached by boat. On the north and the west coast of the island, the Tramuntana mountains fall abruptly into the sea that create dramatic coves. A sea kayak allows you to explore the rock formations, blowholes, caves and quite bays at your own speed. The adventure, beauty and the tranquility of gliding silently through extraordinarily pure waters surrounded by spectacular landscapes makes this sport extra special.

Sea caving
Cooling off from the summer sun with sea caving is a great way to enjoy the island of Mallorca. Cova de Coloms is one of the only sea caves that you can swim into in Mallorca, and to really experience the magic. After a short swim into the cave you walk deep underground, where you should have an experienced guide that can lead you through this maze like structure and underground lakes, all the way to the heart of the cave. Sea caves stalagmites are different to land types as the movement of water affects both the formation and mineral the content of the formations. You don’t need to have done caving or potholing before as these vertical cave systems are a perfect introduction to the underground world of caving. You don’t have to go under the water so no scuba equipment required.
